In the women’s division, the record stands at 48.5 hot dogs and buns, held by eight-time champion Miki Sudo. This year, Sudo secured first place with an impressive 39.5 hot dogs and buns.

According to the nutrition facts provided by Nathan’s, one serving of their Original Coney Island natural casing beef frank contains 170 calories, while one of their restaurant-style buns contains 130 calories. Considering Chestnut’s intake of 62 hot dogs and buns this year, the franks alone would have accounted for 10,540 calories, while the buns added another 8,060 calories, resulting in a grand total of 18,600 calories consumed during the contest.

Last year, with 63 hot dogs and buns, Chestnut consumed an even higher total of 18,900 calories.

For his record-setting year with 76 hot dogs and buns, his total calorie intake would have reached a staggering 22,800 calories!

It’s worth noting that Nathan’s natural casing beef franks also contain 16 grams of total fat and 480 milligrams of sodium per dog, meaning that one hot dog accounts for about 21% of the recommended daily values for each. With 62 franks eaten this year, Chestnut’s total fat and sodium intake amounted to 992 grams and 29,760 milligrams, respectively.
